Search the Stoneleigh Census:

First name(s): Surname: exact Help Search help:

Unless 'exact' is ticked, all searches for surnames will find names that CONTAIN the letters you type in.
e.g. wood will find Wood, Allwood, Woodward, etc.

Searches can be made broader by using wildcards:

Use the percent (%) sign to represent any number of characters.
e.g. w%d will result in Wood, Ward, Dowd, Wakefield, etc.

Use the underscore (_) to represent a single character only.
e.g. an_a will result in Anna, but not Anita or Annie.

First names and addresses can be searched in the same way.

1939

Taken on the night of Friday 29th September 1939
The 1939 census provides a snapshot of the civilian population of England and Wales just after the outbreak of the Second World War. The information was used to produce identity cards and in January 1940 to issue ration books. Information in the Register was also used to administer conscription and the direction of labour, and to monitor and control the movement of the population caused by military mobilisation and mass evacuation.
Some records which were originally redacted have been reinstated where appropriate.
