William Louch
William Louch was born in Steeple Aston in Oxfordshire in about 1843, the second of the six children of William Louch and Mary nee Hawkins. His father was a journeyman baker. William was baptised on 29 December 1844 at Bletchingdon, a few miles away. He married Hannah Lines on 31 October 1871 at Fenny Compton, her native parish - at the time of his marriage he was working in Snitterfield. They had three children, the eldest of whom,
William Edward, is buried at
B 8. 10.
The couple lived variously at Snitterfield and Chesterton before settling in Stoneleigh by 1880 - their son John Henry was baptised at Stoneleigh on Easter Day (28 March) that year, when William's occupation was given as farm bailiff. More prosaically in 1881 his occupation was given as shepherd, and the family lived at Finham Park, where they stayed for more than twenty years.
William died on 17 March 1910 at Dordon near Tamworth, according to the Louch family tree. His wife Hannah died in 1924.
